FILMISTAN: FREDERIC LERE
Frederic Lere studied sculpture in Carrara, Italy and at Ecole des Beaux-Arts, Tours, France- the city where he was born. He first worked as a comics artist in Paris, and later as a muralist and theater set designer. He set up his New York studio in 1986 and in the Garment district in 2010. His paintings, watercolors and photographs have featured in many group and solo exhibitions in US and Europe. Lere participates regularly at the Garment District Arts Festival. Presently, his work is exhibited in the Kaufman Arcade lobby, New York, from till November 15, 2014, where he explores the approaches to the Lincoln Tunnel.
Filmistan is a recent painting by him done in August, 2014 Mumbai, India that depicts the famous Filmistan studio, in Goregaon, Mumbai.
