Steady streams of water flow evenly out of drains
Climb stealthily but steadily up to the level of the road
Dissolving the untarred sidewalk
The sidewalk dissolves into a rivulet
Of red mud that comes alive and takes on an identity
It seeps into every crack, every gap and into people
Walking in the rain
Unaware their innards are being coated
With wet red mud
The mud comes indoors and seeps into the walls
The furniture, into clothes, into every morsel
People smell it, taste it and are confused
What is it that pervades everything?
Oh, it must be the rain, or, is it?
