Abismo: Maria Luz Gonzalez Rodriguez

Maria Luz González-Rodríguez is an Associate Professor at the University of La Laguna, Canary Islands, Spain. Her research lies in the area of Anglo-Canadian literature, Cultural Studies and South Asian Canadian Literature. She is widely published in the field of postcolonial and cultural studies, and she is also an amateur painter of watercolors from an early age. In her art work, she tries to convey oneiric and psychological landscapes that represent different states and dimensions of human nature. Color is, for her, the best way to communicate these realities that are usually difficult to grasp in daily life. As a painter, she signs as Luz González. She is the author of numerous covers of literary journals, books and posters. This watercolor is entitled "Abismo" (Abyss in English). In it, Luz Gonzalez tried to convey the situations of life that make us feel vulnerable and drive us to face our more intimate fears as if we were in a dead-end without nothing under our feet.
