A CONFETTI CELEBRATION: JANET
LEONARD
Falling from the comfort
of hands that once held me,
I am called to silence, to rest
in hallowed hibernation.
Like a small seed shifting,
I bend, wiggle and squirm-
as roots redefine space.
A hardened seed coat softens
within the muck of ebony walls.
The pain and pangs are strong-
Perseverance cries out in this long wait.
Dampened earth shakes, moves me
toward open crevices, delivering a new day.
Sunshine swirls light all around
spinning my spirit like a top
in a kaleidoscopic confetti celebration.
